How to Care for Your Live Plants After Delivery: A Beginner's Guide
Getting live plants in the mail is exciting - and a little different from buying at a garden center. Here is how to help your new GreenLeaf Ventures plants settle in and thrive.
Unboxing: Open your package right away. Plants can spend a few days in transit, so a little droopiness, minor leaf drop, or curled leaves is completely normal - they usually bounce back within a week. Gently remove the packing material and let your plant breathe.
Light and water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Most of our houseplants prefer bright, indirect light - check each product page for that plant's specific needs. Keep new plants out of harsh direct sun and cold drafts for the first week while they acclimate.
Potting: Many plants ship in a nursery pot or bare-root, ready for potting. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes, water thoroughly, and let the excess drain away.
The first two weeks: Keep things steady - consistent light, careful watering, and no fertilizer yet. Your plant is adjusting to a new home, so give it time before repotting or feeding.
Winter deliveries: If your order arrived in colder months, it may have traveled with a heat pack. Bring it indoors promptly and keep it away from cold windows and drafts.
Something not right? Every order is covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. If a plant arrives damaged or does not make it, email info@greenleafventuresllc.com within 30 days with a photo and we will send a replacement or refund - no return needed.
