- Botanical Name: Anthurium 'Veitchii'
- Common Names: King Anthurium
- Description: Often referred to as “The King”, Anthurium veitchii produces some of the most spectacular leaves in the genus. They can reach lengths of 3 feet or more and have a pleated texture that reflects light in a way that seems almost otherworldly. It is the ultimate specimen for a tropical collection, and in our experience it is a vigorous grower under a wide range of conditions, including ordinary households.
- Care: Bright indirect light and high humidity bring out the best leaf texture. Use a chunky, fast-draining aroid mix and water once the top inch has dried. Avoid cold drafts and feed a diluted balanced fertilizer monthly through the growing season.
- Pets: Anthurium is listed by the ASPCA as toxic to cats and dogs. Please keep it out of reach of pets.
Every plant ships as a young, well-rooted starter grown by our US nursery partners. Size and shape vary naturally, and photos show a mature example of the variety.
On arrival: unbox right away, rest the plant out of direct sun for a day or two, then water lightly. A few wilted or yellowed leaves after transit are normal.
Planting: pot up in a well-draining mix, or plant outdoors once frost risk has passed in your USDA zone. Each listing states zone, light and watering.
Safety: many ornamental plants are toxic if eaten. Keep them away from young children and pets unless the listing says the plant is edible.
