- Common Names: Philodendron Zebra, Velvet Philodendron
- Description: A rare crawling philodendron grown for its large, velvety, heart-shaped leaves. Deep green blades are crossed by bright silver-white veins that stand out sharply against the matte surface, and young leaves often emerge with a pink edge that fades as they harden off. Unlike climbing philodendrons, this species creeps along the surface of the soil on a thick rhizome rather than climbing a pole, so it spreads sideways and looks best in a wide, shallow container.
- Care: Give it bright indirect light and a chunky, well-draining aroid mix. Water when the top inch of the mix has dried, and let the rhizome sit on the surface rather than burying it, which is the most common cause of rot. Average room humidity is acceptable, but higher humidity produces larger leaves.
- Pets: Philodendron is listed by the ASPCA as toxic to cats and dogs. Please keep it out of reach of pets.

On arrival: unbox right away, rest the plant out of direct sun for a day or two, then water lightly. A few wilted or yellowed leaves after transit are normal.
Planting: pot up in a well-draining mix, or plant outdoors once frost risk has passed in your USDA zone. Each listing states zone, light and watering.
Safety: many ornamental plants are toxic if eaten. Keep them away from young children and pets unless the listing says the plant is edible.
