Pet-Safe Houseplants

Every plant here was checked by name against the ASPCA's Toxic and Non-Toxic Plants database. A plant is in this collection only if its genus appears on the ASPCA non-toxic list and appears nowhere on their toxic list. Anything the ASPCA does not cover was left out, however safe it is generally considered.

Non-toxic does not mean edible. A cat or dog that eats a large amount of any plant can still be sick, and potting soil, fertilizer prills and drainage stones are their own hazard. Our full method, and the popular houseplants that did not pass, are in the pet-safe houseplants guide on our blog.
